Forgive me, for I have sinned.
Or don't.
Rebecca Watson

This issue of Skepchick features some superb writing from a few thoughtful, intelligent, funny women who are thinking critically about religion and philosophy. And then there's me.

I wrote an overview of The Amaz!ng Meeting 4. Where most people may have concentrated on the all-star line-up of skeptical celebrities who spoke at the conference, I chose to focus on the parties and surrounding shenanigans. And just to solidify my well-regarded reputation, I took a rather risque photo from the weekend and put it on the front page.

Some have argued that discussing (or mentioning, or showing) the fun side of life here on Skepchick takes away from the serious side. Are they right? Can intellectuals cut loose and have fun? And if they can, are they allowed to talk about it afterward?

Obviously, I think we can be irreverant, sexual, and funny at the same time that we're smart and educational, but I'm hoping to hear what some of you think about it. Did we go too far by putting a nipple on the front page? Did we go too far from the start, with a calendar of mostly-nude women? Have we not gone far enough? Because I may have more photos . . . Tell me what you think.

Oh, and don't forget to check out the new Skepchick blog, which promises to be chock full of the kind of insightful and amusing commentary that you've come to expect from anybody but me.
